Dr. Ryan and our team are experienced in pediatric sedation dentistry, helping kids stay calm, relaxed, and pain-free during treatment. Families across Carolina Forest, Myrtle Beach, Conway, and surrounding communities trust us to make dental care gentle, safe, and stress-free.

Safe, Gentle Options for Every Child

Dr. Ryan will talk with you about the safest sedation option for your child’s needs and health history. Our options include:

Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)

  • Wears off quickly after the visit

  • Helps Kids Feel Calm And Relax

  • Allows your child to stay awake and responsive

Deeper Sedation (in select cases)

  • Helps children sleep through the procedure

  • Used for longer or more complex treatments

  • Always performed safely under close monitoring

Your child’s comfort and safety are always our top priority.

Everything You Need to Know

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes! At Sawgrass Pediatric Dentistry, sedation is always administered safely and closely monitored by experienced professionals, tailored to each child’s needs.

  • We offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and deeper sedation for more complex procedures. Dr. Ryan will help choose the best option for your child.

  • With nitrous oxide, your child stays awake but calm. Deeper sedation, used in select cases, allows them to sleep through the procedure.

  • Nitrous oxide wears off quickly after treatment. Deeper sedation may take longer to wear off and requires a short recovery time.

  • Sedation can help children who are very young, have anxiety, special healthcare needs, a strong gag reflex, or need extensive dental work.

  • We always encourage family comfort and support. Dr. Ryan will guide you on the best approach based on the sedation type and treatment.

  • We’ll give you clear instructions before your child’s visit, including any food or drink restrictions, depending on the type of sedation.

  • With laughing gas, they’ll be relaxed but aware. With deeper sedation, most children don’t remember the procedure and wake up peacefully.
